After years of working in the wine industry in California, while continually searching for the right property to work with, we are proud and privileged to have partnered with a family-owned property which goes back more than one hundred years. Originally, the property was planted with more fruit trees than vines – but the passion project in the vineyards quickly upstaged the fruit in the orchards. For the longest time, the family simply sold its grapes to other vintners – though the family always wanted to make wine themselves. When the opportunity to purchase a large winery – across the street from the main house – arose, the family knew it made sense to acquire these production facilities and turn their amazing grapes into the wines they always knew they could make.
60% Merlot, 30% oak-matured Zinfandel , 10% Ruby Cabernet
Zinfandel is a favorite of the family, with the largest and oldest plot on the property dedicated to Zinfandel. Not surprisingly, then, this grape is the dominant varietal for our Red Blend and gives the blend a fresh, voluptuous, vibrant, and spicy profile. A small portion of the blend is from an extra old site, where the family allows the grapes to hang a bit longer, before being picked and left to dry slightly, adding depth of flavor; think aged balsamic, dark cherry, black pepper. The remaining portion of the blend is a drop of Merlot to add even more bright blue fruit, along with some structured acidity.
